Confessions of a Christian Mystic by author River Jordan is an insightful journey into the thoughts and beliefs of a modern Christian who questions and pushes the boundaries of conventional religion. The author weaves her own path seeking God and finding a place of peace within the Divine. As I read the book, I could sense the energy with which it was written. The author seems to write exactly as she is thinking and sometimes the thoughts, words, and revelations tumble like a waterfall of words to express her lively and quick wit. The deep hunger she feels for the understanding and spirit of God collide with expressions of her true beliefs which are born from study and life experiences. I could easily identify with her tribe of strong southern women who believed in Jesus.
River Jordan writes of her personal experiences and her own revelations as she seeks her path to the heart of God. The author shares her theological principals and beliefs in a vigorous heartfelt honesty. Confessions of a Christian Mystic are her words and her truths from the deepest chambers of her soul. She was put on a spiritual journey of truth-seeking as a child of five when she asked her mother, “Where is God?”
