Phryne Fisher is back as Queen of the Flowers! by Kerry Greenwood...

Queen of the Flowers by Kerry Greenwood is another colorful Phryne Fisher cozy mystery which is not to be missed! Phryne is an intelligent, strong, and skilled woman who is not easily intimidated. Queen of the Flowers addresses the issues of abuse in the lives of children and young girls who need guidance.

St. Kilda is getting ready for a week of festival which will include events such as a circus, carnival, parade, bazaar, music and singing and much more as the town fills with strangers and travelers. There will be a flower festival and Phryne has been chosen Queen. Her adopted daughters Jane and Ruth are to join her and they are all busy working on projects. Jane and Ruth are having some problems getting along, and Phryne is concerned about their arguments. She also discovers a rose bouquet on her front steps and sees a young man running away.
Phryne has the responsibility of training the young ladies who will accompany her on the float. As she observes the girls at a luncheon, she considers the future for each of them and their possibilities.  When the time comes for the flower maidens to practice their places on the float, Rose is missing.  Rose, the girl who seems to be the most troubled, and Phryne is worried.
The author beautifully blends the telling of stories from Phrynes past with the current events of the story. The focus of this story is serious and unveils a sad truth of how young women have been regarded in the past and the troubles which can happen. Phryne Fisher takes action and in the void where the law cannot help, she finds a way to make a difference for justice!
