Miss Seeton Quilts the Village by Hamilton Crane...It's Whymiscal and fun !

Miss Seeton Quilts the Village by Hamilton Crane is the most recent story, after 20 years, of the delightful former art teacher who seems to uncover pertinent details of local village mysteries.
The story is set in the 1970’s but the Scottish villagers are still in the mindset of the aftermath of World War II and suspicious of foreigners, or anyone more than 15 miles away from Plummergen.
Some of the women have decided to make a quilt depicting the homes and areas of interest around the village. Miss Seeton goes out to make some sketches for her contribution to the quilt and decides to use the charming Summerset Cottage intended for Nigel and Louise as her first drawing. Later at home as she works from her memory of the house there appears an unsettling result within her finished drawing. Although repair work is going on inside the house, the image of the outside of the house which comes from Miss Seeton’s hands looks like the devil in a cloud!
So, begins a village full of historical innuendo, misunderstandings, and a flurry of crime all related to Nigel’s house when a hidden painting of King Henry VIII along with a hidden priest hole filled with old radios and electronics from the war is uncovered.
“Wrong way around and upside down” is a phrase from the story which stays in my mind along with the Beatles rendition of Henry the Eighth. It’s Delightful!
