In the opening of this book there is a flashback to when Emily made a watery rescue of 13 year old Kayla Swanson from being held on a boat by a kidnaper and abuser.
Next Emily and Rick are on another covert mission to rescue little Ana from horrible kidnappers where she is found in a dog crate in deplorable conditions. There is a bit of a problem with this mission…Emily is caught on a surveillance feed which could blow her cover and her covert operations in the future.

Emily and Rick always anonymously alert the local police or detectives after they have secured an offender with zip ties and removed the victim from harm. They have a new detective they are feeding information to now, Detective Danny Starr. On this puzzling case Emily and Rick decide to add Jordan Smith to help them find this serial killer who is leaving body parts as clues. Jordan is a former FBI operative and has a special bond with Emily, although Rick just tolerates Jordan in order to get the job done.
As the story progresses the reader will go along for the hunt of this cold bloodied killer and all of this team will pay a physical price in injuries, shootings, and near death. And Emily meets up with a flash from the past... Kayla !
