One Day in Rome or The Lovers’ Guide to Rome by author Mark Lamprell: a story about choices...

(Thank you NetGalley and the Publisher for allowing me to read and review this book)

One Day in Rome or The Lovers’ Guide to Rome by author Mark Lamprell is a story about the choices and lives of several people as they just happen to ALMOST intersect in Rome during a specific time. It is very well written, and the characters are well developed. Each character and their interaction with others they meet on this journey will make a difference in their memories and future feeling for people from their past and also in their present. Have I confused you?  Sorry, but I do not want to post spoilers, I want you to read the story! Also, keep the color blue in the back of your thoughts as you read the story :)

The opening of the book is very poetic and written from the persona of  the spirit of life of Rome, “the spirit of place”. This is very clever due to the emotions and choices of the characters within the telling of how being in Rome may affect your decisions. First you read of Alice, a student ho feels a bit lost within the expectations of her family.  You will read of Lizzie and Constance, sister-in-laws who take Henry for his final trip to Rome. Next we read of Alec and Meg, a married couple filled with strife but are together on a mission in Rome. These principal characters will interact with others in Rome within a 48 hour time period and they will each have self doubts and question their perspectives, motives, and values.  I enjoyed this story and wanted each of the characters to find what heir heart was longing for: peace, happiness, love. There are troubles and some laughter along this journey!  ( Some Strong language and Mature themes )
