The Forgotten Ones by Steena Holmes Suspense and Family...It will Break your Heart...but keep reading!

The Forgotten Ones by author Steena Holmes is another book of complex truths about family, illness, and love so fully felt, until it can become unhealthy. I am not going to post specifics of this story because I want the reader to feel the shattering suspense of each secret. That is one of the compelling features of this book… the reader needs to wonder, and worry, and try to figure out the truth as the book is being read. It is an experience!
Brennley and Elizabeth (Elle) are two nurses who are best friends, roommates, and both work at Kincardine General Hospital. In this story, they both become immersed in discovering the truths from a dying man, David Walker.
The Forgotten Ones is a complex story carefully woven to slowly unwrap truths which might be too harsh to bear if told suddenly and all at once. The characters seem real, the conflicts of loving a person too much to let them go, to get them the help they really need, because you love them with every breath and you think you can “fix” the problem yourself. It is a fine line and happens in families across the world today more than people will reveal.
Steena Holmes is a masterful storyteller. It is a gift, being able to take an element of truth and weave a full and suspenseful story that you just cannot forget once you close the covers of the book! This is one book I will read again in a few months, to make sure I did not miss a subtle clue.
