The Summer Getaway by author Tilly Tennant is a summer holiday romance. Ashley Moon was on holiday sixteen years ago when on one drunken night she fell deliriously in love with a stranger. She knew his first name and he gave her his phone number, but when she tried to call Haydon the number was not really his phone number. Their one night together gifted Ashley with a baby girl she named Molly.
Ashley and Molly have a chance to go on holiday to the French resort of St Raphael with her mother Sue and her step-father Morris. During the course of the week, Ashley sees her teenage love, Haydon who is on holiday at the villa next door!
I won't post spoilers, but Ashley feels the need to be honest with Haydon about Molly, but the story is one of missed opportunities and awkward meetings between the two of them. Ashley's mother Sue made me so angry at the way she nagged Ashley about Haydon :)
